Excerpt from
“Angels, Horses and Other Worldly Lessons:
…“I have an
idea, Chucky,” Tina said as she settled her eyes on the lawn outside the
classroom window. “Let’s go outside and see if we can find the Cosmic
Lattice. We might as well do something fun since time has stopped here!”
“Yeah! Let’s
go!” Chucky answered, excitedly. Tina had told Chucky about the Cosmic
Lattice and how she and the others had ridden across it with her angel
between worlds.
They left the
classroom making their way out of the building and into the yard where
Tina had first discovered that time could stop. She wondered why
Marguerite had yet to appear to guide her to the ‘other world’ but she
figured they might be able to find the way themselves. Tina was becoming
more and more confident about her ability to control things around her.
Her angel had shown her that she, like every other person, was capable
of creating whatever they wanted by deciding and then staying focused on
it. People were wizards according to Marguerite and at the ‘other world’
school the students had always known this. That was the very thing that
made it so much fun to visit there. If the children there wanted
something, they merely created it. No one there ever wondered whether or
not they could do or have something; they knew they could!
“Look at this,
Chucky. This is where we can step through,” Tina said, motioning to the
opening in the fence where she had followed the orange cat several
months ago…
… All at once
Tina felt a thickness in the air in front of her. She reached for
Chucky’s hand and pulled him up next to her, then stepped through the
thickness as if stepping through a doorway. Where they had just been
disappeared behind them and in front of them lay the Cosmic Lattice,
buzzing and stretching out as far as they could see.
“Here it is!”
exclaimed Tina.
“What is this
exactly? Where are we? Where’s home… what…” Chucky said nervously
looking back towards where he thought they had just come from.
“It’s okay. We
can get back any time we want to. If we follow this for a while we will
get to the ‘other world.’ This is the Cosmic Lattice I keep telling you
about. Listen to it hum. Isn’t it beautiful?” Tina asked.
“Yeah, it’s
cool!” Chucky acknowledged. They walked along for some time in silence
enjoying the floating feeling as they glided across the Lattice
effortlessly. “This is really cool,” he stated again.
“I like it,
too. Marguerite says we can travel to the ‘other world’ without it but
it’s more fun this way,” Tina answered.
Suddenly they
were at the open field across which they could see the open classroom
building where Tina had learned her first lessons in Quantum Physics.
She had learned that the universe was made up of energy and everything
we see is just energy vibrating at different speeds.
Onyx, the
big, black horse Tina and the other children had made appear by
drawing him together in the air with their fingers acting like magic
pens, came galloping across the field…
